Oxytokin Overview

It may be one tiny jar, but it’s crammed full of natural extracts and powerful peptides. Oxytokin is a anti-wrinkle rejuvenating cream which, according to its maker,  may be small may not be as well-known as other anti-wrinkle creams on the market, but allegedly packs as much of a punch as any other brand out there. It claims to combat fine lines, dark circles, and puffiness, as well as provide high-quality hydration to nourish your skin.

A Closer Look at Oxytokin

If one were to examine ingredients alone, then this may just be true. Although it is missing some of today’s more popular anti-wrinkle ingredients (like Retinol or Hyaluronic Acid), it does include some of the other top wrinkle-fighters on the market today in high concentrations. Unfortunately, Oxytokin does not provide any clinical testing information that will help back up their claims, nor are they any done by outside sources which are readily available.

Without any tests to speak of, we are left relying on consumer testimony to grasp whether or not the product really performs as advertised. Unfortunately, in the case of Oxytokin, the results are mixed at best.

Many skin care companies conduct trials on their products, but beware! In-house testing is prone to bias.

Positives

  • Might help decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • May lighten dark circles around eyes
  • Moisturizes and protects skin

Negatives

  • No clinical trials or studies conducted
  • Very few customer reviews compared to similar skin care products
  • Questionable quality of ingredients
  • Mixed user reviews

Key Ingredients

Oxytokin has an ingredient list bursting with the right stuff. Popular cosmetic ingredients like Argireline paired with peptides and natural extracts make for a lush, refreshing cream. But is the whole any better than the sum of its parts? Is it even as good? While the ingredient list looks promising, there is nothing that seems to promote any sort of speed boost, or any delicacies taken for potentially sensitive skin.

Glycerin

One of the most common humectants around, Glycerin (or Glycol) can be derived from plant oils or synthetically produced. There is no way to tell which is which, unless the manufacturer chooses to disclose, which is uncommon. Often, glycerin is lab created, as it is easier to make in bulk and much cheaper than all of the necessary steps to harvest it from plant derivatives. Nonetheless, it is a common skincare ingredient that helps promote  moisturization. It is utilized for two main reasons: one, it is inexpensive, and two, it just works. Nothing moisturizes skin quite like Glycerin, however it can sometimes be the culprit of a tacky or greasy residue in products.

Argireline

Relatively new to the skin care scene, this compound is an extremely popular anti-wrinkle ingredient. It is derived from the same toxin as Botox, but unlike its injectable cousin, Argireline is applied topically, and is not a toxin at all. It is a far gentler way to keep facial muscles from clenching as much, thus it helps keep new wrinkles at bay.

Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4

Originally developed by beauty industry giant, Proctor & Gamble, this peptide is instrumental in connecting amino acids to one another. Amino acids are the result of collagen breakdown, and introducing new amino acids in turn results in the production of new collagen. This is how this particular peptide works to help repair skin. It introduces new amino acids, and then connects them to form new collagen, which then fills the gaps between wrinkles and reduces their appearance.

Beeswax

Save the bees! Anyone who loves the sweet taste of honey will tell you that there is very little on this earth better than beeswax. It is a natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, encourages skin wounds to heal faster, and protects skin from the environment without clogging pores. Beeswax is also high in Vitamin A, which promotes cell reconstruction. Using beeswax that is responsibly sourced helps the bee population stay busy, happy, and healthy. Win-win for all!

Directions: How to Use Oxytokin

For best results, always thoroughly cleanse your face prior to applying any moisturizers or wrinkle creams. After cleansing, rinse your face with lukewarm water and gently pat dry. Apply the product first to your fingertips, and then in dots around your skin before smoothing into face with gentle massaging motions.  Extra product can be applied to the more problematic areas if you desire.

Before your first use, ensure that you test Oxytokin on a small, easy to cover portion of skin in case  of an adverse reaction. If you react negatively to Oxytokin, then stop use immediately.

The Final Word on Oxytokin

While it claims to be just as good as its competitors, Oxytokin just can substantiate their outlandish promises with actual proof. Some user reviews are positive, but an almost equal amount are negative or neutral, leaving potential buyers scratching their heads and taking a shot in the dark. Whether or not Oxytokin will work for you is uncertain, but if you aren’t in a gambling mood when it comes to the quality of your skincare, the best advice is to steer clear and check out a different product.
