I think the original Clarins Double Serum is best for normal, dry, dehydrated, or mature skin.

It makes sense for someone who wants more softness, radiance and comfort and enjoys a nourishing serum-oil texture.

It may also suit people who prefer botanical-led luxury skincare and want one serum that supports several concerns rather than using separate products for hydration, glow and visible aging.

I think Clarins Double Serum is worth it for the right person, but I do not think it is essential.
