Revitol Anti-Aging Moisturizing Cream review

Revitol Anti-Aging Moisturizing Cream Overview

Revitol as a company bases their mission around providing affordable beauty for everyone, regardless of gender or social status. That is why they say they formulate their products with both men and women in mind, for several different possible skin types. They also aim to keep prices low, so every customer can afford to attain their desired level of beauty. Revitol claims these beliefs are core to their company, and to their Revitol Anti-Aging Moisturizing Cream.

A Closer Look at Revitol Anti-Aging Moisturizing Cream

Upon first opening the jar, a few customers complained about a ‘medicine-like’ smell, though it didn’t seem to be a problem for others. Reports say the cream is smooth and homogeneous, aside from one unfortunate reviewer. She was told she had a ‘bad batch’, but explains that customer service accepted the chunky cream for a full refund and offered her a replacement for free. Now that’s what I call service!

We dove deeper into Revitol Anti-Aging Moisturizing Cream to see what was behind the label, and there were some serious surprises. Normally a short ingredient list is a great sign, but not when those ingredients are pre-mixed chemicals in mystery doses from other companies that aren’t held to potentially as rigorous testing standards. That alone made us leery, and as we ventured deeper into this product, our instincts were proven correct.

There are a handful of “mystery” ingredients, and those aren’t exactly welcome when it comes to what we put on our skin. Those aside, there are also chemical preservatives and fungicides which, while ruled as ‘safe’ by the FDA in low quantities, are still unnerving. The quantities of ingredients in this product are heavily up for debate as it is, and adding in another uncertain element makes it too dangerous for a recommendation to come without a hefty caveat and large, red warning sign.

Active Ingredients

Revitol Anti-Aging Moisturizing Cream contains a mix of both natural and scientifically formulated ingredients designed to maximize your anti-aging benefits. It’s this combination of Mother Nature’s effectiveness with scientific potency that reduces the look of your fine lines and wrinkles for a better complexion. However, some of the ingredients are less than forthcoming regarding portion sizes, so it is difficult to know exactly the dose of active ingredients in the end product itself. And while the list is short, a few unsavory add-ons are enough to potentially spoil the lot.

Ritapro 165

This emulsifier is made by chemical production company Rita Corporation, and is a combination of Stearates, namely Glyceryl and PEG 100. Usually it has a base containing palm or coconut oil, but since the blend is proprietary information of Rita Corporation, Revitol is not required to divulge how much of each chemical the blend constitutes. Usually PEG 100 and associated ingredients are included so that they can bind with impurities on the skin and be washed away with water. In low doses, PEGs are considered safe, but in high doses they have been associated with a known carcinogen.

Skin Tightener ST

Made by Sederma, this active ingredient is a blend of marine and plant ingredients to grant that instant facial lift that Revitol promises. Like Ritapro 165, since it is made by an outside company, Revitol is not required to divulge the quantities in their mixture. But, it does contain an algae that is similar to giant kelp, which helps with moisture retention as well. Unfortunately, this ingredient ends up being a large question mark, with little to no information shared on it despite being a major component of this product.

Hyaluronic Acid

This beauty booster is having one heck of a year. It seems to be in almost everything nowadays, and for darn good reason. The human body makes Hyaluronic Acid naturally, mostly in the skin, eyes, and connective tissues. It helps to lubricate joints and relieves dryness, thanks to its hyper moisturizing properties. Studies are also underway to see the potential for bone strengthening effects as well. On our skin, Hyaluronic Acid locks in moisturizer, preventing skin from drying out and prolonging a youthful look.

Shea Butter

Scientifically known as Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, this botanical ingredient comes from grinding and processing the nuts of the Shea tree. It is a nearly unparalleled moisturizer due to the fact that it forms a barrier between our skin and the environment. It traps any added moisturizer in and prevents the water in our skin from evaporating, leaving a silky smooth feeling. Always be certain to cleanse well before using Shea Butter. It will trap any remaining dirt or debris under the skin as well, so instead of moist, soft skin, you could end up with acne or blackheads if you’re not careful.

Propylparaben

While this ester occurs in nature and can be found in many plants and even some insects, Propylparaben is mostly lab-created for use in cosmetic products. It acts as a preservative in many water-based formulas, or products with high moisture retention. It keeps products from going stale or spoiling, however, increased presence of parabens has been linked to increased risk of breast cancer.

The Final Word on Revitol Anti-Aging Moisturizing Cream

Revitol Anti-Aging Moisturizing Cream is a decent formula for your money. It is lightweight and does an excellent job at infusing every layer of your skin with extra hydration without leaving a greasy feeling. In fact, it’s non-comedogenic properties are one of the things customers like most about Revitol. But the inclusion of parabens is regrettable, especially with such an otherwise compact and tidy-looking ingredient list. However, if that’s a chance you’re willing to take with many anti-aging products, then this might be a good one for you to try.

However, if you’re looking for all-natural, irritant-free alternatives, you may want to bypass this one for now and give something else a try, What else?
