Cellulite is an unfortunate and unsightly skin condition which millions of women suffer from each and every day. This problem tends to affect women more severely than men due to characteristics that are specific to the female body. As a result, the lumpy, “cottage cheese” texture usually associated with cellulite is more likely to show up on the thighs and posteriors of the female form than anywhere else.

Fortunately, there are treatments which are designed to assist women in ridding themselves of cellulite. Unfortunately, not all of these treatments and techniques work the way their producers claim they do, and many do not work at all.

If you have a problem with cellulite, then you will want to do as much research as possible before selecting a treatment. Some treatments are expensive, but aren’t necessarily more effective than any other treatment. Other treatments are less expensive, and often make exaggerated claims about the benefits they offer without offering any scientific evidence to support their claims. It all depends on which treatment is best suited for your budget and your body.

Below are some of the more popular treatment options:

Laser Surgery

What do you get when you combine bi-polar radio frequencies, infrared light energy, and mechanical massage? One of the most recent developments in high-tech treatments for cellulite, that’s what. This particular procedure is advertised as an effective, non-invasive treatment for dealing with cellulite.

Unfortunately, this new procedure has yet to establish any scientific evidence to back up its claims. In addition, it is wildly expensive – a single session of  treatment can cost $2,000 and a minimum of seven to eight sessions are required to have any visible effect. For the majority of women suffering from cellulite, laser treatment simply is not a viable option.

Other Forms of Non-invasive Surgical Removal

Because of the progression of science and the competitive nature of the business world, it did not take long for non-surgical treatments similar to laser surgery to appear on the cosmetic market. Unfortunately, these imitation treatments carry a price tag on par with the invasive surgery but have a significantly smaller likelihood of successful results.

Painful side effects from the laser treatments include bruising and acute discomfort, both of which have been reported with these copycat procedures. In addition, those patients who thought they experienced immediate success noticed that their cellulite problems returned in a matter of days. Although the most expensive form of these treatments is only $4,000, such a price tag is still prohibitively expensive for many women, especially when results aren’t totally guaranteed.

Treatments To Avoid

When searching for cellulite treatments that are guaranteed to work, thorough research is the key. You should find the treatment (or treatments) which best suit your budget, your schedule, and your body. Also keep in mind that if something sounds too good to be true, then odds are that all you are hearing are empty promises. Finding an effective treatment at an affordable price is a complicated balancing act, but there are treatments for cellulite out there that will work for you.
